Overtime details: Time and a half. Overtime may be offered, but not guaranteed.

Estimated hours per week: 30-50

Benefit: Meals are provided by on-site chefs. A separate staff dining room is provided. Staff have access to snacks, self-prepared snacks, a microwave, staff refrigerator/freezer.

Job Prerequisites:

Employees will be 100% responsible for maintaining cleanliness and neatness in employee accommodations (bedrooms and shared bathrooms). This requires collaboration, communication, and compromise and teamwork among all summer workers.

  • Employees will rotate among three work positions. 1) Housekeeping/interior cleaning, guest/owner laundry, 2) Kitchen assistant, including washing dishes and cookware, 3) Dining room server/cleaning, including meal set-up and clean-up.
  • Daily and weekly job assignments will be determined by the manager and will vary week to week, based on visitor schedules, workload, and will always be at manager’s discretion. Managers will do their best to spread the workload and overtime hours as evenly as

possible among the summer staff. However, assignments and responsibilities will vary based on individual skills, job performance, and attitude.

  • Specific duties associated with each position may include:

Job Description :

Housekeeping/interior cleaning, guest/owner laundry. Safe handling of cleaning products and chemicals. Proper operation of cleaning equipment. Clean a specified number of rooms within the designated amount of time. Clean restrooms, furniture, hallways, lobbies, lounges, stairways and other work areas so that health standards are met. Change bed linens and make the beds. Wash, dry, fold, organize and put away linens and Owner/guest laundry. Replenish towels, linens, toilet tissue, toiletries and complimentary supplies.

Empty wastebaskets, clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas. Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked and clean. Dust and polish furniture and equipment (as instructed with appropriate cleaning products). Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers, hang draperies and dust window blinds. Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork as necessary to meet company standards. Clean restrooms, furniture, hallways, lobbies, lounges, stairways. Carry heavy items and use a wheeled cart to transport supplies. This role will require interaction with owners and guests. Customer service, positive respectful attitude, and a “can-do” mentality are expected!

 

Kitchen assistant, including washing dishes and cookware. Employee will assist cooking staff in the kitchen and pantry before, during and after breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Duties will include dish washing (including glassware, utensils, pots and pans, etc. Some

will be washed and dried by hand. Others will require loading and unloading dishwashers. Storing clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in proper storage areas, as directed by manager and/or cooking staff. Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen work

areas, equipment, and utensils. Re-stock all food and cooking supplies in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars, as directed. Sweeping and scrubbing floors at least once per day. Washing windows, walls, countertops, cabinets, etc. to maintain a healthy food prep and service environment. Handle all cleaning supplies and chemicals using gloves and according to safety standards. Clean garbage cans with soap and water or steam, as directed. Sort trash into bins/bags and move to designated removal areas (required regardless of time of day or night and weather conditions). Assist kitchen staff with cleaning and preparing food for cooking and serving. Assist with setting up dining room prior to meals and removing dirty dishes and utensils. Communicate when supplies are running low to kitchen staff or manager.

 

Dining room server/cleaning, including meal set-up and clean-up. Lots of guest/family interaction in this role. Must be dressed appropriately (wear uniform, proper personal grooming), polite, good listener, able to ask questions when employee does not understand

instructions or requests. Knows all meal specials and can take special requests for and drink orders. Important that employee understands and acts appropriately when food allergies or sensitivities are communicated. Present the food menu, answer any guest questions, and – if asked – offer suggestions. Write down meal orders and communicate them to kitchen staff. Place food orders on plates, trays, table or buffet, based on

instructions from kitchen staff. As directed by staff, place food on plates with or without garnish. Servers in the dining room must always be observant and attuned to quality control. Always notify kitchen staff of any questions or problems. Serve food to guests in the dining room (or other meal locations), ensuring the orders are delivered properly. Ladle soup, toss salads, cut/portion pies and desserts, brew coffee, and perform other tasks as directed by kitchen staff. At all times, the kitchen staff (chef and/or sous-chef are in charge). If owners/guests make requests that differ from direction from kitchen staff, server should politely respond to guest/owner that employee will pass the request along to the chef. Observe guests/owners throughout meals and respond to any requests. Note when guests have completed each course and clear table as directed by kitchen staff. Stock service stations with items such as ice, napkins, and straws. Set up/move/arrange any

banquet tables or service tables, as directed by managers. Transfer supplies/food between storage areas and kitchen, as directed. Assist kitchen staff with cleaning and sterilizing dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, and facilities. Employees are 100% responsible for

keeping staff dining room (table, plates, glassware, food products) clean and organized. Always follow safety regulations and rules (see Employee Orientation Manual). Report all safety hazards and broken equipment to manager. Complete any additional tasks assigned

by kitchen staff and/or manager.

English Required skills: Upper Intermediate (A, B+, B, C+) only

Cultural Activities:

  • Over the course of the summer, staff will have the opportunity to participate in many recreational and cultural time-off activities onsite and in nearby towns and villages.
  • Onsite activities: The club is located on a pristine and beautiful lake.
  • Activities include: boating (canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, pedal boat), swimming, miles of walking/running/hiking trails through the forest, bicycling on the road and around the lake, fishing on the lake, volleyball, badminton, etc.
  • Special events include: tie-dye T-shirt party, s’mores and campfires, special “theme night dinners” with some of the families/guests, painting and arts & crafts.
  • Offsite activities: Outings to the Wild Center (Adirondack Natural History Museum) and mini-golf course in the town closest to the club, Tupper Lake, NY.
  • Day trips to the Adirondack Experience museum in Blue Mountain Lake, NY, the villages of Lake Placid, NY (home of the 1980 Summer Olympics) and Saranac Lake, NY.
