Position: Retail Associate
Position Available: 8-10 positions
Hourly wage: $12.00 per hour, except for Pawley’s Island, Garden City, and Surfside which are $13.00 per hour.
Estimated hours: 32 hours per week
Number of days per week: 3 – 6 days
Job Prerequisites:
The participant is expected to bathe every day and wear deodorant. The host employer will provide the grooming guidelines during the orientation with them. Employers in the US typically have restrictions regarding piercings, tattoos, facial hair, and un-natural hair colors. If any of these apply to the participant, we strongly suggest they consult with the host regarding any concerns before accepting the placement offer.
An intermediate/advanced English speaking level is required. An outgoing and friendly personality is a must. Must be able to work quickly and efficiently.
Job Description:
As a retail associate, the participant is responsible for customer service, stocking merchandise, completing transactions at the register, and maintaining the cleanliness of the store.
English Required skills: Advanced – Intermediate (A, B+, B, C+ only)
Arrival Dates: The participant must arrive two days before the DS-2019 start date. The participant should not apply for this placement if they cannot arrive on time. Early departures are not permitted.
Start Date: March 7th – April 10th, 2026
End Date: June 20th – July 7th, 2026

Pawleys Island is a town in South Carolina, on the barrier island of the same name. It’s known for its beaches and sand dunes. Several of the houses in the Pawleys Island Historic District date to the 18th century. North of town, Brookgreen Gardens has a zoo, sculptures and gardens with native plants. Nearby, Huntington Beach State Park is home to Atalaya, a Moorish-style mansion, plus beaches and wetlands.
