Position: Support Staff (Front of House, Food Prep Worker, Stock Clerk, Grounds/Maintenance/Cleaner, Restaurant Attendant, Retail Store Clerk)

Position Available: 1 position

Hourly wage: $15.00 per hour

Overtime details: Overtime may be offered, but not guaranteed.

Estimated hours: 32 – 40 hours per week

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Language Skills:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Housing is tied to this placement. Should participant be dismissed from placement housing will be terminated immediately.

In addition to a strong command of English, this position can be physically demanding and may require:

  • Standing and constant moving for long periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift).
  • Able to work with cleaning chemicals
  • Frequent bending and stooping.
  • Lifting up to 25lbs. /11 kgs.
  • Accuracy and basic math skills are important.

Job Description:

Wage for all positions are $15 per hour.

Front of House:

  • Monitors the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables.
  • Escorts the guests to the dining room.
  • Estimates wait times for guests and monitoring the guest waiting list.
  • Ensures that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting.
  • Keeps dining room occupancy chart current.
  • Answers the telephone.
  • Take orders for drinks and meals at the cashier.
  • Inspect assigned restrooms and clean as needed.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by supervisor based on business needs.

Food Prep Worker:

Serves customer of fast-food restaurant, Donut Factory, or Country Store by performing the following duties.

  • Requests customer order and depresses keys of multi-counting machine to simultaneously record order and compute bill.
  • Selects requested food items from serving or storage areas and assembles items on serving tray or in takeout bag.
  • Notifies kitchen personnel of shortages or special orders.
  • Serves cold drinks, frozen milk drinks, or desserts.
  • Makes and serves hot beverages.
  • Presses lids onto beverages and places beverages on serving tray or in takeout container.
  • Makes donuts, pies, cinnamon rolls and other pastries.
  • Makes fudge and specialty drinks
  • Receives payment; counts change back to customers.
  • Scoops ice cream, makes sodas, shakes, malts, etc. for customers.
  • Meet and greet customers; answer any questions.
  • Prepares coffee and creamer for customers; restocks condiments, napkins and other supplies.
  • Busses tables.
  • Offer menus to customers.
  • Cooks or apportions french fries or performs other minor duties to prepare food, serve customers, or maintain orderly eating or serving areas.
  • Accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products.
  • Complies consistently with company standards on portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, recipes, policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and portions food products prior to cooking.
  • Handle raw meats and maintain health and safety standards
  • Ensures quality of products served.
  • Utilizes a wide range of kitchen tools and utensils, including but not limited to knives, grinders, broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers according the health and safety standards.
  • Promptly reports equipment and food quality or shortage problems to Kitchen Manager.
  • Maintains a clean work station and assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen and all storage areas.
  • Monitors inventory levels to ensure product availability.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Stock Clerk:

  • Takes inventory or examines merchandise to identify items to be reordered or replenished.
  • Requisitions merchandise from supplier based on available space, merchandise on hand,
  • customer demand, or advertised specials.
  • Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking invoice against items received.
  • Stamps, attaches, or changes price tags on merchandise, referring to price list.
  • Stocks storage areas and displays with new or transferred merchandise.
  • Sets up advertising signs and displays merchandise on shelves, counters, or tables to
  • attract customers and promote sales.
  • Cleans display cases, shelves, and aisles.
  • Itemizes and totals customer merchandise selection at check out counter and accepts cash or charge card for purchases.
  • Packs customer purchases in bags or cartons.
  • Transports packages to specified vehicle for customer.
  • Cleaning areas, putting things away, keeping areas tidy etc.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by supervisor based on business needs.

 

Grounds/Maintenance/Cleaner:

Keeps premises of offices, restaurant, department and outdoor areas in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties:

  • Cleans fixtures, surfaces, and trim.
  • Cleans shops, hallways, dining rooms, kitchens, rest rooms, stairways, and other work areas.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, and oils floor
  • Washes windows
  • Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans outdoor ashtrays.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies.
  • Assist in the restaurant as needed during busy times.
  • Replaces light bulbs.
  • Shovels snow.
  • Transports merchandise and supplies between departments.
  • Unloads trucks and checks for accuracy on packing slips at the time of delivery.
  • Take mail to the post office.
  • Answer customer questions.
  • Completing minor repair work, which includes repairing doors, locks, door frames and handles as well as replacing light bulbs, sockets, switches, and window glass.
  • Performing basic plumbing tasks, which includes unclogging drains as well as fixing leaking faucets and toilets.
  • Performing regular cleaning duties, which includes sweeping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Maintaining all outdoor areas, which entails mowing, trimming, and edging the lawn as well as shoveling snow and ice as required.
  • Taking inventory of maintenance supplies and notifying the Supervisor of low or depleted supplies.
  • Promptly responding to requests for emergency repairs and clean-ups.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance equipment is in good working order.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by supervisor based on business needs.

Restaurant Attendant (Back of House):

A Busser/Cleaner/Dishwasher maintains kitchen work areas and restaurant equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties:

  • Scrapes food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine.
  • Washes pots, pans, plates, cups, silverware, bowls, and trays.
  • Sweeps and mops dish room floors.
  • Washes worktables and walls.
  • Segregates and removes trash and garbage and places it in designated containers.
  • Bleaches coffee cups as needed.
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
  • Collects dish carts from pit and food prep areas.
  • Returns dishes to appropriate places from dish room.
  • Provides general assistance to servers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Promptly greet guests as they are seated.
  • Speedily and efficiently delivers food from the kitchen to the correct customers.
  • Replenish straws, condiments, water cups.
  • Clear tables after guests. Take tableware to dish room and place silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in appropriate areas for washing.
  • Promptly clean table tops, chairs and booths between seating.
  • Check floor and clean as required.
  • Reset and arrange tabletop for the next customer.
  • Inspect assigned restrooms and clean as needed.
  • Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to server as needed.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
  • Prepares soups, salads, food or vegetables for the servers during rush periods.
  • Follows all company health and safety rules.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by supervisor based on business needs.

Retail Store Clerk:

Retail Sales Clerks obtains or receives merchandise, totals bill, accepts payment, and makes change for customers in retail store by performing the following duties:

  • Stocks shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.
  • Sets up advertising displays or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales.
  • Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise.
  • Obtains merchandise requested by customer or receives merchandise selected by customer
  • Answers customer’s questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
  • Totals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill.
  • Accepts payment and makes change; counts change back to customers.
  • Wraps or bags merchandise for customers.
  • Cleans shelves, counters, or tables.
  • Meet and greet customers; answer any questions.
  • Monitor customers to assist in preventing theft.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by supervisor based on business needs.
