Job Prerequisites:

YOUR WORK SITE OF ACTIVITY AND HOUSING WILL BE ASSIGNED ONCE PASSED THE SWIM TEST AND TRAINING.

  • See attached document with information about the swim test. If failed the swim test you may not have a position with Sunset Pools. Your work location will be assigned after training completion.
  • There is a written and practical exam that must be passed for this position.
  • If participant fails to pass the exams, Sunset Pool Management will not be able to guarantee another position.
  • Must be able to pass swim test.
  • Housing is tied into this offer.*
  • If you terminated or resign from this placement you will need to vacate the housing as well.
  • Employees are responsible for the cost of transportation from their home country to and from the Washington DC metro area.
  • During the peak arrival period of May 13 – June 8 Sunset Pool Management staff will pick up employees at any time from the following locations:
  • Dulles International Airport (IAD)
  • Regan National Airport (DCA)
  • Baltimore-Washington International airport (BWI)

Union Station: 50 Massachusetts Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20002

  • Sunset Pool Management reserves the right to relocate a student to another location within the DMV area (DC, Maryland, Virginia states) depending on work performance and work hours availability.

Job Description:

Lifeguard / Pool Operator

  • This position reports to the lead guard, lifeguard supervisor, regional manager, HR Managers.
  • The Lifeguard is responsible for monitoring the well-being of guests, ensuring their safety by preventing and responding to emergency situations both in and out of water.
  • Should an emergency occur, lifeguards are responsible for taking quick and decisive action and providing the appropriate emergency care.

Specific duties may include but are not limited to any combination of the following:

  • Ensuring guest safety and provide exceptional guest service.
  • Standing/sitting in and out of water for long periods of time.
  • Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.
  • Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Inspect facility as required and report any unsafe conditions or equipment.
  • Maintaining skills at a rescue-ready level at all times.
  • Remain alert and attentive at all times.
  • Participate in regular in-service training sessions.
  • Maintain professional lifeguarding practices at all times.
  • Keep the facilities and property clean and comfortable for guests.
  • Female employees are expected to work even during menstruation.
  • Report to work, in uniform, no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled shift
  • Clock-in and out using property landline phone
  • Ensure the safety of the facility patrons
  • Enforce facility policies, rules, and regulations
  • Monitor gate control including checking patron’s identification cards
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service sessions
  • Respond to patron inquiries and concerns
  • Complete the general care and cleaning of the facility and perform minor maintenance and repair of swimming pool equipment
  • Inspect facility and report unsafe conditions and equipment to the supervisor
  • Maintain daily records as outlined in the Log Book and complete daily reports
  • Perform lifeguarding duties
  • Manage daily pool operations including circulation system and water quality
  • Complete incident/accident reports as needed
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or other Company designee

English Required skills: Advanced (A, B+, B, ONLY)
