Position: Kitchen Assistant

Position Available: 2 positions

Hourly wage: $12.00 + service charge percentage/per hour

Estimated hours per day: 32 hour per week

Meals details: Any time the dining facilities are serving, participants will have access to eat meals onsite at no additional charge.

Job Descriptions:

  • Must possess excellent hospitality skills and strong desire to foster an attitude of “exceeding guest expectations.”
  • Participants will prepare salad bar items, assist with baking items and help cooks and chefs as requested
  • Assist with preparing meals, using standard approved menus in sufficient quantity and quality, when requested
  • Operate all equipment necessary for food preparation including convection ovens, stove, meat slicer, chopper, knives, steamers, steam kettles and skillets
  • Assist with dishwashing and cleaning as needed
  • Manage time to complete all necessary tasks
  • Work effectively and efficiently to reduce product loss due to waste
  • Speak and read Excellent English and follow written guidelines and/or recipes
  • Communicate supply needs immediately with Supervisor or Director
  • Keep all equipment, storage areas, and work areas clean and maintained to standards set by the North Carolina Dept of Health
  • Comply with all Dept of Health safe handling guidelines to prevent the spread of germs
  • Wear clean gloves at all times as required by the Dept of Health guidelines
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required
  • Optional: Perform other duties as offered through the property when urgent non-recurring needs arise and all available help is requested
  • Participants will use cleaning chemicals and may come into contact with pork products
  • Participants will receive online safety training prior to working in the kitchen. Once in the kitchen, the participant will receive further training and use safety measures like cutting gloves.
  • Automatic service charges will be added to hourly salary pending guest bookings. Last year, employees who performed to the expectations of this role earned an average of $17.30 in total per hour. This can vary based on business volume.
