Job Prerequisites:
- Strong communication skills required: Good English is needed to communicate clearly with boaters who often ask questions about docking or fueling. Sometimes guests speak quickly or loudly, so it is important to understand them and respond effectively even in noisy situations.
- Handling busy and stressful periods: The work environment can be very fast paced, especially on weekends when many boats arrive at the same time. Staff must assist with docking, fueling, and record-keeping while responding quickly to customers.
- Working in different weather conditions: The job is mostly outdoors, requiring employees to work in hot sun, rain, wind, or humid weather. These conditions can make tasks such as docking boats more challenging.
- Physically demanding tasks: Employees must stand for long periods and lift heavy equipment, sometimes up to 87 pounds (39 kg). Handling fuel hoses, ropes, and other equipment can cause fatigue in the arms, legs, and back.
- Additional responsibilities: Team members are expected to help with various tasks to keep the marina running smoothly, such as cleaning trash, handling spills, and assisting customers whenever needed.
Job Description:
- Assist boaters: Help customers dock their boats and fuel up, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
- Manage dock operations: Safely tie up boats while maintaining control and attention to detail.
- Handle multiple tasks: Manage several docking requests at the same time, especially during busy periods.
- Support dock preparation and cleanup: Help prepare the dock area and keep it clean, tidy, and organized during the shift.
- Stay composed under pressure: Maintain a calm, focused, and efficient attitude in high-pressure situations, particularly during peak summer hours.
- Follow safety standards: Adhere to marina safety protocols to ensure a safe and organized dock environment.
- Adapt to operational needs: Assist with various dock-related tasks and support overall marina operations when needed.
- Track reservations: Record boater reservations accurately and coordinate with staff and customers.
- Monitor supplies: Check dock equipment levels and report shortages or issues to management.
- Clean equipment: Help clean and maintain dock tools, ropes, and lines to ensure they remain in good working conditions.
- Support general upkeep: Assist with sweeping the dock, wiping surfaces, and maintaining high-traffic areas.
- Assist guest facilities: Help clean and restock restrooms or other guest areas to provide a pleasant experience for visitors.
English Required skills: Upper Intermediate – Advanced (A, B+, B, C+ ONLY)
