Job Description :
Participants work assignments will be selected based on arrival dates, associates must be willing to work in any of the listed positions. The daily job duties will vary depending on business need and skills. The job may include using chemical cleaning products. The job may also entail working in cold temperatures inside a cooler and working in hot temperatures outdoors. Participants will be working with pork and alcohol products. Harris Teeter may not be able to accommodate department assignment requests.
Cashier duties:
- Scanning products for purchase
- Collecting payment and processing transactions – This position requires a strong understanding of U.S. currency and the ability to work a credit card machine. Participants must be patient, cheerful, and have excellent customer service skills to perform this job successfully. Bagger duties:
- Placing products into paper or plastic bags
- Delivering bags to the customer’s car
- Bringing grocery carts inside from the parking lot
Stocker duties:
- Maintaining order and inventory control
- Unloading supply trucks
- Building and maintaining displays per direction
- Rotating and pricing products after stocked
- Cleaning, stocking, staging, and common areas
- Breaking down boxes
- Providing quality customer service by interacting with customers to create a positive shopping experience
- Participants must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to move continuously (standing, bending, walking) while at work.
Fresh Food, Meat, Seafood, and Produce Clerk duties:
- Obtaining or preparing food items requested by customers at deli counter
- Filling orders
Job Benefits (bonuses, incentives): The employer will arrange cultural activities based on participant interest. Examples of activities include but are not limited to visit to a Busch Gardens, potluck dinners, trips to NC lighthouses or Wright Bros Aviation Museum, and movie nights. Participants receive an employee discount of 10% at the Harris Teeter stores at all times.

Housing Information
Housing assisted by: Employer
Cost of housing: $125 per student per week
Housing Details: Participants will live in scenic beach apartments very close to the store. Apartments are divided by gender. Smoking is not allowed in the apartments. laundry is available onsite. Apartments are fully furnished with full kitchens and cookware. Linens are provided when participants pay the housing deposit. Rent is payroll deducted and WiFi is included.
