Position Available: 5 Positions (Line Cook 3 positions, Steward 2 positions)

Hourly wage: $14.00 – $14.23 per hour

  • Line Cook $14.23 per hour
  • Steward $14.00 per hour

Average hours/week: 32

Overtime: Sometimes. Not always available, however paid at time and a half of hourly wage after 40 hours worked.

Number of days per week: 5 Days per Week

Job Prerequisites:

  • Participants should be neat, clean and presentable for the work environment.
  • Hair must be clean and styled.
  • Hair must be a neutral/natural color.
  • Personal cleanliness is very important.
  • Maintain good hygiene, preventing unpleasant breath and body odor.
  • Clothing should be clean, pressed and properly fitted.
  • Tattoos must be covered and no excessive piercings.
  • Participants are Ambassadors of their home country and should make every effort to represent their country well.
  • Please Note: Friends and couples are welcome to apply, however, they should not expect to be assigned the same shift or be granted the same days off.

Job Description:

Line Cook – The Host strongly prefers participants with prior culinary experience and Friday start dates. Participants that want to interview for these positions should be taking culinary courses or have comparable work experience in a restaurant.

Summary: To prepare and portion foods for the resort’s food and beverage outlets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned.

The cook will prepare, portion and serve stocks, breading items, cold salads, dressings,sandwich making, vegetable and fruit prepping and fryer work according to standard recipes.

The cook will handle knives and operate small kitchen equipment safely.

Be able to work with others well in a close environment with a learning attitude and a desire to progress into the Cook I position.

Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

 

Follow the kitchen chain of command: ie. Chefs, Cook I, Cook II, Cook III. Perform other duties as required.

 

Participants will be using cleaning chemicals. Participants may be handling pork products.

Participants will be standing for long periods of time in this position.

 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

 

Steward –  Host prefers Friday start dates

 

Summary: Wash and clean all cookware (pots and pans), dishes, utensils and kitchen areas in accordance with Big Cedar standards. Prep work for the culinary department such as but not limited to peeling, dicing, chopping, assembly finished product.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Clean pots, pans, dishes, silver, china, glass and all other cookware utensils following proper procedures.

Keep the washing area neat and clean.

Store clean items in the proper location.

Keep the kitchen floor area clean and free of debris.

Perform assigned prep work.

Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Assist with the sorting and execution of recycling procedures.

 

Participants will be using cleaning chemicals. Participants may be handling pork products.

Housing Information 

Housing assisted by: Employer

Housing Cost:  $125.00 per student per week

Housing Type: Participants are provided dormitory style housing.

Housing Detail:

  • Participants will share dorm style bedrooms, 4 participants are assigned per room depending on size; each with their own bed.
  • Participants will be sharing bathrooms, no more than 4 per bathroom.
  • There is a shared living space with a community kitchen and entertainment areas. Facilities are fully furnished. Laundry facilities are available onsite.
  • No co-ed housing available. While the buildings themselves are co-ed the floors are separated between females and males.
