Job prerequisites:

  • English Proficiency: Upper-intermediate English required for customer interaction, safety communication, and following instructions.
  • Physical Ability: Able to stand and move for 8+ hours per shift with no stools or sit-down positions. Must handle repetitive motion (bending, lifting, reaching) and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Work Environment Readiness: Comfortable working in cold walk-ins (41°F / 5°C) and freezers (0°F / -18°C), air-conditioned store areas, and hot/humid outdoor conditions when retrieving carts.
  • Food Handling: Willing to handle pork and other raw/cooked meat products and to work around cleaning chemicals.
  • Availability: Must work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays as these are peak business days.
  • Behavior Expectations: Must demonstrate professional conduct at all times — punctuality, cooperation with managers, and respectful communication with customers and coworkers.
  • Adaptability: Must follow employer direction and accept tasks outside the initial job description within the assigned department. Tasks are determined by business needs, not by participant preference.
  • Housing & Transportation: Responsible for securing personal housing in Wildwood, NJ. Employer provides daily transportation to the worksite in Avalon, NJ (35–45 minutes each way) at no cost.
  • You will not be able to change your position to a Wildwood location once your DS-2019 form is issued.

 Job Descriptions:

You will work as a supermarket team member. When you arrive, the employer will place you in a department such as grocery, produce, bakery, or front end. This decision is made by the employer and is based on your English level, your personality, and the store’s business needs. Once assigned, you will stay in that department for the season. Within your department, you may be asked to perform many different tasks, both in customer areas and in back-of-house spaces. You do not choose your department or tasks, and you may not be placed with your friends. Independence, flexibility, and professionalism are required.

Possible Responsibilities

Assisting customers, bagging items, scanning, and handling payments.

Preparing, packaging, and labeling produce, salads, baked goods, or other ready-to-eat items.

Stocking shelves, rotating products, and organizing displays to maintain quality and freshness.

Working in walk-in refrigerators kept at 41°F (5°C) or colder and freezers kept at 0°F (-18°C) or colder.

Performing repetitive motions such as lifting, bending, reaching, and scanning.

Handling raw and cooked meat products, including pork Moving and lifting heavy boxes, unloading deliveries, and organizing the stockroom

Cleaning aisles, workstations, and equipment to maintain safety standards.

Collecting carts outside, sometimes in hot and humid weather

Work Environment

Supermarkets are kept cool with constant air conditioning, and employees regularly move in and out of refrigerated and frozen areas. This is a physically demanding position that requires stamina and attention to detail. You will be standing for eight or more hours per shift, there are no stools or seated workstations. The role involves repetitive movements, heavy lifting, and adapting quickly to employer direction.

Your placement and daily assignments are determined by the employer. You must follow instructions, work independently, and remain flexible. Success in this role comes from adapting to different tasks, supporting your department, and maintaining a positive, professional attitude.

Cost Details:  $180 – $260 per week

Transportation details:

Commute time varies based on work location. Participants assigned to ACME Wildwood (5300 Park Boulevard) or ACME North Wildwood (2400 Delaware Avenue) will walk or bike to work. Walking and biking times range from 10–25 minutes, depending on the route. This is approximately 1–3 kilometers (0.6–1.8 miles).

For participants assigned to ACME Sea Isle (6212 Landis Avenue), ACME Avalon (15 Avalon Boulevard), or ACME Seaville (2087 Shore Road), the employer provides free transportation between housing and the worksite from May 22 to September 5, 2026. Commute time is approximately 35–45 minutes, depending on traffic and weather.

Participants must arrive at the employer location Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Participants arriving at the housing location must arrive between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Participants should not arrive on weekends or on U.S. federal holidays, including Memorial Day on May 25, 2026, and Juneteenth on June 19, 2026.
